The All Wales Coastal Path – Lonely Planet Award
A travellers’ bible has described the Welsh coastline as “the greatest region on Earth to visit in 2012” ahead of some of the world’s most iconic destinations.
Lonely Planet – one of the world’s leading travel publishers – has lavished praise on Wales because next year it becomes the first country in the world to boast a footpath running along its entire coastline.
The All Wales Coast Path – a Welsh Government scheme costing £10m – will run from Chepstow right the way to Queensferry in Flintshire, North Wales. It will stretch some 870 miles (1,400km) when it is opened on 5 May 2012.
Wales’ coast is the only UK region to feature in the guide’s top ten regions.
Earlier this year I was fortunate enough to walk one of the most popular sections and my thoughts on that part of the path are included in the Ceredigion Coast and Brecon Beacons post
Images of other sections of the Coastal Path which I have also walked and photographed can be seen in the other Wales galleries.
