Print of the Month - November 2015
With a new documentary televison series starting on Channel 5 on 10th November called "Loch Lomond: A Year in the Wild" featuring the wildlife of Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park I thought it was an opportune time to offer my interpretation of the beauty of this famous loch as November's Print of the Month.
Loch Lomond owes its origin to the glacial era. The Glaciers ran South from the Ben Lui basin towards the southern end of Loch Lomond which is now Balloch. Loch Lomond has the greatest surface area of freshwater in Britain, approximately 17 acres and is the longest freshwater loch at 24 miles; and although quite shallow when compared to Loch Ness and Loch Morar neither of which are in the park, it still holds more water than all the Lakes in the Lake District added together.
Walking along the eastern shore in the Autumn of 2009 I came across this wonderful storm damaged pine tree near Rowardennan. It couldn't have been in a more suitable position if I'd planted it myself with its out stretching branch directing you to that magnificent view down the loch.
