Pembrokeshire Photo Competition

January 28, 2016  •  Leave a Comment

Last Summer after returning from a successful photo trip to Pembrokeshire I came across the Pembrokeshire Photo Competition with the winning photograph being used on the front cover of the Visit Pembrokeshire brochure for 2016.

The competition was being run by The Carrier Group who in conjunction with the Tourism Team at Pembrokeshire County Council produced the 2015 Visit Pembrokeshire brochure.  50,000 copies were produced and distributed nationally through the Tourist Information Centre network, in response to advertising and through Visit Wales co-ordinated market campaign. The 2016 brochure print run increased to 55,000 copies and will also be sent via direct mail to previous recipients and to key points throughout Wales.

This was an opportunity I couldn't miss so decided to enter one of my photos from the trip.

Thanks to great support through social media the image below was eventually announced as the winner and features Druidston Haven one of my favourite photographic locations during the visit.

At low tide, it's a long sandy beach, lying in front of high rocky cliffs facing west out into St Brides Bay. Two small streams drain onto the bathing water from steep sided pastoral land. The bathing water lies within the Pembrokeshire Marine Special Area of Conservation and the cliffs to the north and south form part of the Newgale to Little Haven Site of Special Scientific Interest.

The Carrier Group produce visitor guides for many destinations which include Visit Cornwall, Tourism North Yorkshire, Keswick in the Lakes as well as Visit Pembrokeshire some of which can be seen in their photo below.

I am a big supporter of the National Parks and being able to contribute this photo to help promote Pembrokeshire and the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park has been an absolute privilege and allowed me the opportunity to give something back in return for the rewarding photo trip that I had enjoyed so much.

I would like to thank The Carrier Group and Pembrokeshire County Council for running the competition and to all of you who chose it has your favourite image.
