Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex
A great fractured maze of muddy creeks and forgotten islands in eastern Essex gives way to the largely unspoilt coastline of Suffolk and Norfolk with steep shingle terraces and low crumbling cliffs, a sign of constant battle with the sea.

Sea Palling - Norfolk
Sea Palling beach is a stunning example of Norfolk's unspoilt natural beauty. On the night of the 31st January, 1953 the North Sea broke through the dunes here and the incursion killed 7 people, destroyed many homes and ruined thousands of acres of farmland; it was the worst flood in living memory. In 1995 the Environment Agency installed nine reefs just off the shore, to help protect the area.
