Arran which means "The Peaked Island" in Gaelic, is a small island off the West Coast of Scotland and lies in the Firth of Clyde. Kintyre was once described as Scotland's only "Main Island" as the peninsula would be an island, were it not for the short isthmus at Loch Tarbert.
