Sutherland and Caithness
The two areas of Sutherland and Caithness form Scotland's northern wilderness and one of the wildest places in the British Isles. Their scenery varies from wild cliffs and tiny islands to lonely moorland and remote sandy beaches with superb panoramic mountain views, plus tree-lined twisting roads and foaming rivers.

Loch a Mhuilinn - Sutherland
The track to Sandwood Bay passes on the eastern side of this loch. The name means "Loch of the Mill" but I saw no evidence of the existence of a mill nearby. Like neighbouring Loch na Gainimh, Loch a'Mhuilinn has a sandy beach at its eastern shore. The burn entering the loch here is the one which drains nearby Loch Meadhonach.
