Balnakeil House - Durness - Sutherland
Balnakeil House, which dates back to 1744, is perched on top of an outcrop at the southern end of Balnakeil Bay. It was built by the Mackay chiefs as a family mansion on the site of an earlier building which had at one time been the summer palace of the medieval Bishops of Caithness.
