Wester Ross and Cromarty
Wester Ross is one of the most remote and beautiful parts of Britain - many say the world. Largely unpopulated and surrounded by high peaks and sea lochs, the area is recognised as one of Europe's last wildernesses. The eastern half - Easter Ross is generally flatter, and consists of towns, villages and farmland bordering the Moray Firth.

Shieldaig Island - Wester Ross
Consider it a man-made home to a thriving population of interesting bird species, such as Kestrels, Long Eared Owls, Mergansers, Herons, and Black Guillemots. The Scots pine was actually planted on purpose some 130+ years ago with the aim of providing the local population with much-needed materials for ships and fishing equipment. The result is a beautiful island that is now managed and protected by the National Trust.
